Katherine Brown | Suzuki Approach Piano for Beginners

VALUE OF GROWING UP WITH MUSIC:

“The goal of music education is to raise a generation of children with noble hearts, not to create famous musical prodigies”

—Dr. Shinichi Suzuki.

SUZUKI EDUCATION IS HUMAN EDUCATION:
Discovery by the child is most important, not instant results. Lessons are designed to assist the child and the parent in catching the basics: rhythm, feel and tone. Thus the ear is developed. Routine, earnest effort and patient listening result in concentration, a skill less emphasized in a busy world. Using the ‘Mother Tongue approach, a child and her parent, are prepared for success by listening to the melodies and observing other children’s lessons building an inner desire before the first lesson. Immersion at home creates unconscious competence because the child is learning to play songs she already knows by heart!
